Pre-K – 1st Grade

20% of 18 month old children have already used a device for 28 minutes a day. Additionally, when toddlers spend 30 minutes on a screen, they have a 49% increased risk of delayed speech development. A large population of preschool aged children are non-verbal. This is concerning for parents and teachers.

Our pre-K – 1st grade program targets early developmental milestones. During this phase, speech, language and social emotional development are critical. This series is full of fun, engaging, and collaborative games for little learners. The exercises are strategically comprised of show and tell features, dress up, pretend play, story-building, scavenger hunts, and more. Get Started Now!

2nd – 4th Grade

53% of children, 6-13 years of age, have their own mobile device. Continually, elementary school teachers report how deficient children are regarding the art of conversation. Challenges include, elaborating, story telling and using imagination. Rarely, do they engage in eye contact, and are poor at interpreting social cues.

Our 2nd– 4th grade program targets the development of age appropriate communication skills. The activities are fun, engaging, and collaborative for these future leaders. All of the exercises ensure a strong grasp of the language arts skills required of them.  Proper grammar, use of descriptive words, broadening lush vocabulary, and other concepts are key components in this series. 5th Through 8th Grade

A shocking 78% of middle school aged children own smartphones. As a result, the use of social media, texting and apps increases.  This becomes the main source of communication and entertainment presenting middle schoolers little practice in face- to- face conversation. With too much screen time, children show deficits in language arts testing. Additionally, they score lower than students who are not digitally connected.

Our 5th– 8th grade program provides preparedness for high school and future opportunities.  In some cases, high school entrance requires an interview. Students must be able to sit down, face to face, and engage with the administrative staff.  The exercises are fun, engaging, and collaborative. However, they become more age appropriately sophisticated. This series focuses on persuasive speaking, extemporaneous speaking, critical thinking, and problem solving. Get Started Now!

9th – 12th Grade

89% of students age 14-18 own smartphones. This demographic is 100% dependent on life with a phone. The high school population is fully submerged in the cellular device as it pertains to their social network. . Much, if not all, of their research is done on a smart device. Additionally, most school curriculum requires them to be technologically savvy. This group, along with middle school children, are who we observe in public. They appear together “socializing” with friends, yet all are face down in a phone.

Our 9th– 12th grade program prepares our future leaders for the real world skills they are going to need to perform and succeed as communicative adults.  This series targets college prep and career readiness. The topics and exercises are fun, anxiety free, and collaborative. Requiring deeper critical thinking, problem solving, and impromptu speaking, yet continue to be full of creative opportunities. Empowered Series: 6th – 8th

Alarming statistics surround the middle school demographic. Pertaining to cyberbullying, loneliness, depression, anxiety, exposure to self- harm, vaping, sexting, and more. This population will text and app to communicate rather than conversing face- to- face. Students utilize their smartphone to gather all of the information they need, whether factual or not. From there, they navigate through these formative, challenging and critical years. Sadly, they are easily influenced and affected by what they see, read, post, and are exposed to.

Our 6th– 8th grade Empowered Series allows kids to talk about the tough things they encounter during these important social emotional years.  Students are empowered by discussing topics in a safe, instructor led, and collaborative peer environment. In doing this, we remove them from situations where they feel lectured. As a result, children who take an active role in navigating the difficult things they encounter, become more engaged. Essentially, they are given a sense of ownership in a culture that is often talking AT them about rights and wrongs.  This series offers real life situations and encourages dialogue. Why was Learn With Moxie developed?2019-10-16T16:54:04+00:00

When was the last time you looked around the world and saw people truly engaging and interacting?  When was the last time you had a true conversation with a 3rd grader, 7th grader, 11th grader?  When was the last time you were in a waiting room, elevator, or restaurant and didn’t see a world full of people face down in phones?  We developed LWM to get our children back to the art of simply talking.  We focus on engaging in conversation, making eye contact, enhancing listening skills, reading social cues and body language and the best part is we do it without students even realizing we are working on these skills.
